The common thread in the big games the Lions have allowed to QBs has been a steady running threat from the QB, allowing an average of 51 rushing yards to those big fantasy QB finishes. During that stretch, Detroit has allowed an average of 38 points per game and four top-eight QB finishes, including Fields in Week 11. The Lions are great against the run but give up plenty of fantasy points to opposing QBs, allowing 20+ points in five of their last six games. While the Detroit defense has been regarded as one of the better defensive units in the league, they have softened over the back half of the season for fantasy purposes. If he’s able to continue running the ball like we’ve seen him able to in the past, Fields could prove to be a huge asset down the stretch of the season. Fields’ ability to run the ball is what made way for him to finish 2022 inside the top-12 QBs in nine of his last 10 games. Since his return from injury in Week 11, Fields has looked more of the part completing 72% of his passes and getting back to his usual rushing attempts averaging 15 carries a game. After exploding to a QB6 finish in 2022, Fields hasn’t been able to find the same groove this season with just three top-12 QB finishes in his eight games played. It’s been an up-and-down season for Justin Fields, but the last month of the NFL season will be crucial in determining his future.
